Mothers who come to Birth Haven are in a state of crisis. They are in need of appropriate housing and support services if they wish to carry their pregnancies to term. Many participants enter our program with intentions of raising their babies, while others seek adoption as an alternative. Regardless of their decision, Birth Haven supports each resident according to her own life circumstances, goals, and vision for the future.
Birth Haven offers an array of services that address the specific needs of each resident. In addition to providing immediate needs, such as shelter and food, Birth Haven also helps connect residents with these essential fostering services:
Through an intensive collaboration with local community partners and volunteers, the program prepares each mother for a better life after residency.
Birth Haven assists each young woman with making the choices that are the best for her and her baby. Where personal support systems are lacking, Birth Haven fills in that need by assisting the resident in obtaining a doula. This trained and experienced professional provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and after birth. If adoption is to be pursued, our organization will help the resident locate work with an appropriate agency.
