Mother Teresa Maternity Home

El Dorado
County,
CA
https://motherteresamaternityhome.com/

The Mother Teresa Maternity Home is a safe residence for pregnant women in need, a place where they can live during the time of their pregnancy and for three months after the birth of their child. In order to qualify for residency in the home, the woman must be at least 18 years old or emancipated by a court of law.

Reasons for coming to the home are: being homeless or escaping a violent environment. Other reasons could be unable to get along with parents or maybe the parents have asked her to leave because they don’t approve of her pregnancy. Some parents give the ultimatum of having an abortion or leaving. Some of our residents have come from rehab and have no money and no place to go.

Women are encouraged to complete their education, either working for a G.E.D., taking a vocational class, or attending the community college.  If they are not in school, they are encouraged to find a part-time job or to volunteer at a community program.
